Intercom Paging is a way to broadcast an announcement over one or more speakers. These could be the speakerphones on a desk phone in an office, a mounted speaker in a warehouse or in an outdoor area. These pages can be originated from any connected device such as a desk phone or even a doorbell. Monmouth Telecom's Hosted PBX provides all of these styles of Intercom Paging as a feature of Hosted PBX at no additional charge.
All Modern VoIP phones provide the functionality required to perform an intercom page. Performing a page is simple and the speaker's voice can be broadcast over all phones simultaneously. There are no limitations to the number of phones that the page can be broadcast over. For example:
You can either page a group of phones, or perform a directed call page to one individual phone. Here are two video tutorials, which demonstrate how easy it is to use the feature.
Some environments are not suited for paging using Office-style Desk Phones. For example a large warehouse has employees roaming around in different aisles and generally has high-powered speakerphones mounted high in the corners to get the attention of the warehouse workers. These speakers connect back to a power amplifier, which then connects into the phone system. Monmouth Telecom provides an inexpensive adapter, which can convert the traditional telephone system interface into VoIP. We also provide a low cost adapter, which can plug directly into a power amplifier for brand new installs.
All of the advantages of Monmouth Telecom's Efficient paging using Desk Phones described above also apply here. Namely, there are no limitations to the number of speakers, or locations over which a page can be broadcasted. The minimum bandwidth is also the same, at the equivalent of two phone calls, regardless of the number of speakers or locations.
Doorbells can originate calls, ring multiple devices, connect and speak with a desk phone extension or a cell phone on your hosted pbx system. You can then use your dial pad to unlock your door to permit entry. You can couple this technology with a video camera at your door to confirm the identity of the caller to achieve a secure remote keyless entry system. Consider this common application:
